Travel to the Temple

You will be home by 12:30.
Silvia H. Allred First Counselor in the Relief Society General Presidency October 2008 Relief Society General Conference
"When we go to the temple, we clear our minds and hearts of thoughts and feelings which may not be in harmony with the sacred experiences of the temple. We also dress in a modest, proper, and dignified manner. Our dress and grooming for this sacred occasion are signs of reverence and respect for the Lord and His holy house. Once inside the temple, we change into white clothing, which symbolizes cleanliness and purity. We are then ready to participate in the quiet reverence of temple worship. This eternal blessing is available to all who are worthy to receive it.
What can the women of the Church do to claim the blessings of the temple?
Through His prophets, the Lord invites those who have not yet received the blessings of the temple to do whatever may be necessary to qualify to receive them. He invites those who have already received these blessings to return as often as possible to enjoy again the experience, to increase their vision and understanding of His eternal plan.
Let us be worthy to have a current temple recommend. Let us go to the temple to seal our families eternally. Let us return to the temple as often as our circumstances will permit. Let us give our kindred dead the opportunity to receive the ordinances of exaltation. Let us enjoy the spiritual strength and the revelation we receive as we attend the temple regularly. Let us be faithful and make and keep temple covenants to receive the full blessings of the Atonement."

A Night at the Movies
We had a great "Night at the Movies"
Thank you to those who attended and also presented. We had four wonderful presentations!
First we had "Breakfast at Tiffany's" Jacquie did a wonderful job teaching us the importance of eating a healthy breakfast. A few ideas for breakfast that require no cooking are: bagel with cream cheese, banana bread with peanut butter, yogurt, string cheese, apple slices with peanut butter. Ideas that require cooking: breakfast burrito, hard boiled egg, cheese toast, crepes, hot cereal, breakfast pizza. She also reminded us of how important exercise is and how much better we would feel if we did it regularly. It can lower cholesterol, blood pressure and much more! With eight children of her own, she would get up early to get her exercise in and make sure she was there to get them breakfast before they were off to school. Some examples were: You can exercise with your kids by going for a walk, exercise to a DVD with them, you will be a great example to them for years to come.
(just like Jacquie's mom was to her) Thanks Jacquie!
#1 1 Cup strawberries, 1 carton vanilla yogurt, 1 cup milk and 1/4 teaspoon vanilla
#2 6-8 ounces yogurt, any flavor, 1/2 cup skim milk, 1/2 fresh or frozen banana, 1/2 cup fresh or frozen fruit, your choice strawberries work really well, 1 packed cup fresh spinach
(it was actually really good)
We enjoyed "The Parent Trap" presentation that Trish gave.
She focused on two talks: Julie Beck October 2007 conference talk and James E. Faust Oct 2000 conference talk. She did a great job talking on each of the subjects from Sister Beck's talk and how we can apply them to our lives. We are all trying to do our best and with the help of our Heavenly Father, we can make it because as her grandma use to say"Tomorrow is a new day, a clean slate". She mentioned how she uses the time in the car to talk with her kids about what they are doing and learning more about them, this is a great way to strengthen your communication with your children.
James E. Faust Oct 2000 conference talk. We need to avoid danger, have respect for others, use appropriate discipline, obedience and learn to work. In today's world, these are great guidelines for us as parents to follow. Thanks Trish!
Part two of the "The Parent Trap" Maree presented was on Grand parenting. She brought some fun displays of things she does. She said she loves being a grandma, and it showed tonight by the things she shared! Some of her ideas were: she just mailed her grand kids Halloween cards with fun stickers, having things done in advance so when the grand kids come, you can spend time playing with them, e-mail and snail mail are fun memories. She showed a book of her and her husbands courtship that is illustrated for the kids to enjoy. She talked on what great examples grandparents can be to their grand kids. She now realizes that many of her interests came from the example of her grandparents.
"The Sound of Music" presentation by Angie was a great way to finish the night off. She talked about how music can be uplifting or influence you negatively. You can watch the music on your children's i-pods and see what kind of music they have on them. It will say explicit next to it if there is profanity in it. It will say Clean if it is a better version of the song. When you are feeling frustrated with how your day is going, calm music can almost instantly change your mood. The right kind of music can be fun to exercise to, clean your house, dance and be silly with your kids, and invite the spirit into your home. Maybe you have you noticed, that we start and end our meetings with music. Music will help set the "tone" in your home. She challenged us to write down a few of our favorite music choices and she will compile a list so we can broaden our music options.
These are just a few of the many great things that we learned on this fun evening! Thank you again to all of the sisters who took the time to pray, prepare and inspire us with their presentations! The Sizzlin' Seventh Sisters are Strengthened every time we meet!

We had a Terrific Time today at our Halloween Mommy and Me Party!
We had three fun crafts: Ghost suckers, Pumpkins on a gate,
and a Halloween straw necklace!
The children had a great time decorating sugar cookies with
orange frosting and sprinkles.
The costume parade was fun to watch as the adorable seventh ward
children marched around the gym.
The children did a great job listening to the two
fun Halloween stories that were read to us!
Thank you to those sisters who helped with the
crafts, cookies/frosting and clean up!
We had a great time socializing and strengthening
our Sizzlin' Seventh Sisters!
Thank you to all of you for making it so much fun for our little ones!
We missed those of you who were unable to make it.
We will be having a Thanksgiving Mommy and Me in November
